Letting off some steam

Today Brett and I went to Rincon to return our over-abundance of the Mikasa Italian Countryside dinner plates, bowls, salad plates, and cups and saucers. I think overall with ALL gifts I could have fed 50 people on plates!
Anyway, the exchanges at Sweet Peas went great but when we walked into Curiosity Shoppe the lady behind the counter working was not a bright ray of sunshine! She first commented on that I must be returning EVERYTHING we got from their store and was going to keep everything from the other stores. I informed her I kept all my complete place settings but did not need the extra singles (dishes, bowls, cup/saucers, etc.....) . Well she proceded to help me but all the while not overly happy about it. It was not like I was asking for cash back - we were going to get other things that were on our registry. Once we got everything unboxed out of their little gold store boxes she informs me that there is a discrepancy and that I have brounht in one more dinner plate and six more cup/saucers than they had down as being purchased for me. Well I asked her how I got the Curiosity Shoppe monogrammed boxes for each individual gift. This must be their mistake in not recording everything purchased for me. She was quiet rude and said they didn't make mistakes, claiming that only three cup and saucers were purchased from our registry. But I asked her this still did not explain how I got their shop boxes for all these extras she claims was not purchased at their store.
Brett and I finally left with what we could return and exchanged for items wanted. Needless to say we will not be going back!!! I currently have 12 complete place settings and 6 extra cup and saucers.....anyone for coffee?
Of course Brett was not a happy camper leaving the store and he called his mom. She is going to call the store owner on Monday (who was not in today) and find out what needs to be done. I even went through my party book and found the names for all cups and saucers and who purchased them. I guess they need to find an alternative method of accounting what is sold instead of tallying it out on the wedding registry sheets. Brett told his mom not to shop there anymore but I told him that was not her battle but ours. It will all work out in the end. Maybe I will learn to drink coffee.......
As for now, he and I are about to go to dinner with Brian and Jessie - his new girlfriend! Let's just say we love her!!!!! No drama like the last one....but that is another story. 8)

  1. Exchanging is such a pain!!!! Can you try to return them somewhere else - like a big department store???

  2. Going to try but it really ticked me off that they would not take them back especially because they were each in their one of a kind gift box! Such a pain.....I won't really type what I called the women in the store... 8)
