But Monday and Monday night I will say was full of fowl play. With the high winds Monday afternoon newborn sparrows learning to fly were caught on the screened porch. Brett and I helped get them out and too the trees along with the help of Zoe. She caught one little bird twice but we got it away from her without any damage to it's wings. The strangest was Monday night...... Brett and I kept hearing something tap the window outside. This set Zoe off to barking. I thought it was the same bird from Sunday that pecked all afternoon on the window. This kept on for about an hour so I sent Brett outside to check it out. He called me outside to show me what he found. One of the baby sparrows had somehow managed to get it's leg caught in between the windowsill and screen. It had tried frantically for so long to get itself loose, it had broken it's leg. Brett and I managed to get it loose and I held it while it rested. I won't go on to tell you all what happened but I am sure you can imagine. We didn't want the little thing to suffer. Here are a couple of pics of our bird encounters.
Brett managed to get two out of the porch.
They didn't seem to mind sitting in our
hands since the wind was so bad!

This little bird hung out in a hanging basket!
This little fellow was the one with the broken leg.
He also had a death grip on a strand of pine straw!

I can hook you up with some CATS to help with your FOWL problem. We have 6 kittens that need a home! :)
ReplyDeleteWe have four but a wild cat has killed one already! We have enough critters!
